Die Künstlerin visualisiert Vergänglichkeit und Tod im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung und der Völkerwanderung aus dem Nahen Osten. Sie abstrahiert eine Fotografie auf 320 von Hand gemalten quadratischen Flächen, die wie Pixel aussehen. Am unteren Rand tropft die flüssige Farbe nach unten und formt dabei unregelmässige vertikale Linien. Beim Bild handelt es sich um das Medienfoto, welches global für viel Aufsehen sorgte und zum Gesicht der aktuellen Flüchtlingskrise wurde: Das Flüchtlingskind Aylan liegt tot und mit dem Gesicht zum Boden an einem Strand. Lutz möchte zeigen, wie unser Denken und unsere Meinungsbildung von Bildern aus dem Internet geformt werden. Der repetitive Akt des Pixel-Malens widerspiegelt den stetigen und wiederkehrenden Gebrauch von Medienbildern. Mit diesen Bildern werden Geschichten erzählt, welche jedoch auch schnell wieder vergessen gehen. |

The artist visualizes the ephemerality of stories and human beings in times of digitalization and migration from the Middle East. She creates an abstract image by painting 320 square patches of color that look like pixels. At the bottom part of the canvas the liquid color forms irregular vertical lines by dripping down towards the floor. This image is based on a photograph that has been spread globally and has become the face of the migration crisis. The refugee child Aylan lies on a beach – dead and with his face to the ground. With this work Lutz wants to show how our thinking and our opinions are formed by images from the internet. The repetitive act of pixel painting mirrors the constant and recurring use of media images. These images are used for telling different stories. But those stories are also forgotten very quickly. |
